Walk into your local big supermarket chain, and you're likely to be greeted with rows of shiny, uniformly shaped fruits and vegetables. We at HuffPost Green, however, believe that beauty isn't just skin deep. Often, picture-perfect veggies are the result of industrial agriculture. Organic farming can often produce extremely delicious and nutritious vegetables that don't exactly look like supermodels. So let's celebrate the awesome, tasty, little known, and under-appreciated red-headed stepchildren of the vegetable world!

This knobby legume is related to the carrot, but is in fact healthier, with a greater concentration of vitamins, potassium and dietary fiber. Though you may not want to serve this one to your Grandma, it will keep her healthy!

Often described as smelling like garbage, gasoline, or diapers, durian is most certainly an acquired taste. Popular in south Asian countries, this stinky fruit can have a sweet, some say "heavenly" taste.

In Indonesian, Filipino and Malay, rambutan literally means hairy, which is fitting given the fruit's fuzzy appearance. Similar to a lychee, the rambutan is not only a good source of vitamins A and C but also calcium, magnesium and potassium. The acidity of the fruit, along with its high sugar levels, combine to make a very sweet but tart taste
